LA mechanic

Anyone in LA have any recommendations for a reasonable shop? Looking at buying an 03 996 that needs timing adjusted. If I can get it for the price I want I'll have someone local do it and then fly to drive it back home vs shipping it and doing the timing at home. Still need to get more details, just know right now that timing is off.

Stl, you may want to be a bit more specific of which area of LA you live on, as there are several great independent shops in the LA and OC area..

Car is located near Long Beach. I would have it towed to the shop though. Waiting to hear back if the seller will take my offer. Transport came in a little cheaper then I thought it would but would still be nice to fly out, pick it up and then drive it back over a weekend. Good chance to stop and hit a few places I haven't had the chance to visit yet out west.

Euro Spec Motoring in Los Angeles is good. I had them do a PPI when I purchased my 986 and some repairs.https://www.eurospecmotoring.com/

Thanks all. Going to just get it transported. Should have it picked up Thursday and think I have a buyer already lined up for it. This will be my 6th Lapis Blue. For some reason I seem to keep buying this color more then any other.

Porsche mechanic and reasonable are not typically used in the same sentence. I will vouch for 911 Design in Montclair, CA. They are just across the LA county line headed east out of LA on Route 10. Long Beach to Montclair is NE +/-45 miles.

Agree with you to an extent. Reasonable is something that is in the eye of the beholder. For example I think it is reasonable to replace the cam tensioner pads with the engine installed but it isn't reasonable to have a shop say it must be removed. Just cause it's easier doesn't mean it's reasonable. A reasonable shop will work with the customer, doesn't always mean they will be able to meet 100% expectations, but they will try.

The St. Louis dealer on the other hand, exact opposite of reasonable. "the buttons on your remote dont work anymore, even though you used the key to drive here we are going to delete that key to program in your new one....cause ya know, the buttons dont work to lock & unlock the car"
