Split rip nuts in windshield frame

So...

The previous knuckle dragger owner of my 2000 S apparently screwed up more than I thought.

This weekend I was installing a 3 channel dash cam in it, and while running the cables noticed that one of the bolts on the center locking piece for the roof as well as one bolt on the locking pieces by sun shades were very loose and more or less fell out when I unscrewed them.

Well turns out whoever was in there last ran the bolts down hard enough (I'm guessing a 200lbs gorilla with an impact gun) to split the aluminum rip nut inserts in half for those bolts.

I was able to get a single thread to catch, so at least the bolts won't fall out, but they're not holding anything as it is now.

So any idea on how to fix this ?
Is it a dealer thing or do I just punch/drill them out and find suitable replacement rip nut inserts for those holes ?

Any ideas will be more than welcome.

For now I'm gonna go write my congressman about requiring certification before buying an impact gun.......
Yeah. I'm a little bitter here. I mean just why ??
