Shipping time for replacement key from dealership
 

Hey y’all, to those of you who have had a replacement key ordered from a dealership, how long did it take your dealership to get the key?

Next day and they need +/- 15 minutes to program the car when you pick it up.

Are you needing the actual key or the fob? Most would have the fob on the shelf but the key comes from Germany.

Took 2 days about a month ago for one of my cars. Then the screwed it up and deleted all keys when adding my new fob

Also suggest calling around to dealers or see if yours will price match other dealers. I ordered a fob & key from Silver Springs, they were cheaper then everyone. Then took it to the dealer to be programmed. Fob should run you under $150 & key should be under $60 (think it was much less can't remember). Less then 1 hour labor & your tow. I would get 2 keys if you can swing it.

the other option is to find a DME/Immobilizer with keys on ebay. That's what I did for my 2000 and it was under $300. I already had 2 keys but the fob buttons quit working some time ago. No programming necessary. You would still need the key blank, but any dealer can order that & ship it to you for you to put in the fob at home.

So if you switch out one then you must switch all of them, right? If you need a new dme then you must buy it with the matching immo and keys? Or do the keys just sync with the immo and the dme can be swapped separately?

The keys can be had from other places than Germany/Porsche. keysinthepost.com are in England for instance. The key's transponder number needs to programmed into the car's memory so it is recognized as valid. This needs to be done with Porsche's proprietary system. Typically done at a dealer or a very high end indie shop. The OEM code reader system is very expensive.

If its done at an indie, they will need to get the Porsche security codes for your car
