When you say there are no warning lights am I correct in assuming you mean no check engine light????

I am not positive about this because DTC or P codes can be specific to the year of the car.
The P1602 code is for an open,or no voltage in the main voltage supply circuit. It is most likely triggered due to a dead battery or disconnected battery at some point in time.
This info is for a 2000 boxster with a 7.2 DME/ECU
I can't find any info on the code for a 99 Boxster and I am not sure which era of DME/ECU the 99 uses.

So if you have no check engine light ,I would clear the code and see if it returns over time.
Keep me posted on what happens I like to know end results. Helps me with my car and helping others:D

Hello. Blue62 has the code correct and I have Porsche/Bosch DME DTC Codes List that I found on web (can't verify it is 100% accurate) and for DME 5.2, it lists 1602 as the same "Voltage Supply" code as later DME version. Hope that helps.

Thanks guys. I reset and will keep an eye on.

Sorry, I meant no warning lights on dash (Engine light included).

Working on his 99 Box last night made me realize how much I miss mine. They are such wonderful cars.

That shape is timeless. Always going to be a visually interesting car.

After the car has been driven a 100 miles or so let us know if the code came back or not;)
