There is a plug on the driver's side, just behind the rollbar. You may need to buy the wiring harness that goes from one side of the hardtop to the other (not sure one this one).

I can see my plug easily with my driver's door closed, standing right in front of the door handle, looking straight down behind the seat near the rollbar. Have a look there. It's white.

Hi,

Unfortunately, your Windor Regulator is kaput, not uncommon. You may also need a new motor if the metal shavings are from the splines of the motor's output rod and not from the Regulator.

You do not mention which window and the parts are Lft/Rht specific.

Window Regulator - PN# 996.542.075.04 (Lft) - $205.00 PN# 996.542.076.04 (Rht) - $205.00 List.

Window Motor PN# 986.624.101.02 (Lft) - $200.00 PN# 986.624.102.02 (Rht) - $65.00.

This a pretty easy, though involved, DIY repair. But, you'll need to disassmble the current window to ascertain which parts need be ordered. Be sure to disconnect the battery and wait 5 min. to insure that the side-impact airbag is deactivated before you begin. Hope this helps...

its the passinger side.
when i bought the car it was making the noise, i tought it was maybe sand or something, not really sure. but now that i got the convertible top to work, it started being more hesitant and finally stopped working alltogether.

will it be obvious which one needs to be replaced?

Hi,

Well, I think it's a question of just the Window Regulator alone or whether both need replacing. I'm guessing that it'll just be the Window Regulator. But, if the output spline on the motor isn't clean, it can cause the next one to fail in short order.

The Regulator got stuck (was probably operating with more and more resistance for a while), while the motor (pretty high-torque) kept turning. This in turn just augered into the receiver on the Regulator. Between the two is where the Metal shavings (particles) came from.

Look at the attached image and it'll better describe what I mean. Hope this helps...

well... when i push the button it moves the cables, but its like disconnected somewhere so the window is not going up or down, i took the motor out and held it, push the button all works fine, and no noise, but hte noise i think comes when the window goes up and down, and somehow now it doesnt go up or down

weird, cant figure it out

Hi,

Well, you dodged a bullet then, it's only just the Regulator. Good Luck!...

Hi,

Well, shop around, that's the list price at ********************************************, albeit a little dated. You may find a better price (check Sunset), but's unfortunately, I'm afraid that's gonna be the $$ range...
