Exhaust smoke at startup?

I recently started my 2002 Boxter S (9,000 miles) after not driving it for three days. Upon starting a large plume of white smoke came from the exhaust. Is this a fairly normal condition for engines like this that have the heads laying off to the side of the oil sump?

It does not hapen if it has only sat for a day. Anybody else notice this?
Thanks,
Tim

perfectly normal - a side effect of a boxer style engine - just like BMW motorcycles - no worries.
