Anyone have exp dealer fixing recalls for free?

Anyone here taken there boxsters in for recall fixes before...i have checked my Boxsters TSB recalls but my experience with Nissan and other dealers is they usually tell me that my car isnt the specific car with that issue. i would hate to waste my time if my VIN isnt the specific car with that issue that qualifies for the free fix.

I looked at the TSB's on renntech but im not use to looking at them in that format, Im use to seeing, TSB RECALL, then the part thats faulty that qualifies for free replacement, then below that a list of issues that arent covered.

Well, by definition recalls are fixed for free. TSB's on the other hand are generally only fixed under warranty. No experience here, but I'd guess that the better your relationship with the dealer the better your chances they'll fix it for free..... Kinda like bartenders giving you free drinks - only worth more!

My experience with one of the local dealers is that if you bring your car in for service, even if it's just an oil change, they check the car against the list of freebie updates (like the gas cap), and carry out the required service.
If you're looking for reasons to have regular service performed by a dealer, that's probably one of them.

That's my experience too. Each time I've taken my car in (for oil change, swap winter/summer tires, etc) they've invariably done some sort of extra service for a recall or TSB.

Whats the part number for the non-defective gas cap? the one i have right now begins with 996. and ends with either 100 or 00.
