Fornt Suspension

Hi All, Replaced front shocks, strut mounts, strut bearings, wheel bearings, control arms(wishbone). Now...I'm getting a creaking sound when I turn the wheel. I finished on Saturday and drove the car all weekend and just noticed it this morning.(Mon) Any thoughts? V 99 Boxster Base

It sounds like a bad spring top bearing, perhaps was defective..?

That would be a drag. You're saying that cause the strut rotates when the wheel is turned causing the creak noise?

It may not be related to the work you did, have you checked the power steering fluid level?

No I havn't but its not that type of groan, its more a of a squeak/ creak from rubber. Sounds like bad bushings on a control arm.....but they were replaced and it does sound like its coming from the top of the shock tower. I havn't opened the hood yet to give a listen. V

Maybe spray a litle lubricant on the suspect bushings. If the noise remains... hmmmmm. Good luck.

I read to back off on the center nut 1/4 turn. Going to try that at some pojnt.

Yes, the noise would be something like an unwinding, snapping spring..

Several years ago, after installing a set of coilovers on the 987CS, I got a creaking noise when turning the steering wheel, and after removing the strut again I noticed that I didn't removed the bearing from the OEM strut and didn't install it on top of the coilover spring, and this was causing the creaking noise. Please note that the noise was created by only moving the steering wheel (without the car moving).

Something happens every time I rush to complete a job or get help from my younger son (he is always on a hurry..)

Hopefully yo will find the culprit.

Yeah....It happens parked and while driving I can hear at a low speed. I'm gona back off on the nut see if that does anything. Otherwise pull it out and replace the bearing. V

Sort of went away today. Don't know what to think. V

Anyone try PBBlaster for this type of squeak?

Absolutely no squeaks after PBBlaster injection. Great tip as the squeaks were driving me nuts.
