Now what
When I opened my top this afternoon, I heard a loud POP. With the roof partially opened I discovered the passenger side push rod was digging into the guide rail and eating it away.
Tried to attach a picture that shows the damage. 1. What is causing this? 2. What is the fix. Looks like I will order a new guide rail as a start. Any help is appreciated. Too many nice top down days left in N. Florida. Don't want to miss out. http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1601667828.gif |
Upon further investigation the lever on the transmission is what is eating into the rail guide. WHY???
|
Seems like something’s seriously out of whack. :( Is the transmission loose?

Well, I had similar issues and I took all the parts out and open and close my top manually. Weight reduction is a plus and I could not justify the expense for the third time! What seems to be a simple design, evidently isn't reliable. True my 2000S is twenty years old, but three major component top repairs is a bit much and all were repaired by Porsche dealers.
