Custom exhaust

Recently I completed the bumperette delete. Upon one of the many threads I referenced there was a photo of a Boxster with the delete and, where the bumperette holes would otherwise have been, were some fancy looking exhaust tips... sitting on either side of the license plate. The bumper cover in that photo was an aftermarket for where the exhaust would be, at the bottom of the bumper cover, it was straight. If the OEM exhaust tip was behind there... it'd be hidden now.

So... my inquiry...

Remaining compliant with California law... what would it take to have fabricated at a muffler shop? Would it be a costly endeavor? Would the aluminum bar (to which the bumperettes would be attached... riveted) have to be removed?

It would have to have a muffler.

I thought that rear end looked great, and wanted to see if it's worth it. A little Outlaw-ish? Yeah.

Thanks!

Starter - I have no advice on your query, but I’d love to see that exhaust.

I’ve entered just about every keyword I can think of to find it. I’m coming up bupkis.

Thanks

Found it.

#7 on this thread:

986 aero & cooling mods

Not necessarily the cutouts to each side of the plate area... where the delete plate might be. US license plate in the middle... room enough on each side for a pipe.

Then there's the fabrication... and muffler... California compliant.

I like that look.

I think it would be very easy to make the exhaust come out the rear area where the bumperettes are. Either use two small mufflers or one big muffler that has two going in and two coming out. Similar to what third gen camaro's use. I've made both exhaust systems on my two boxsters. It's not hard if you have a little fabricating skills and a welder. You definitively would need to modify the aluminum bumper though.
