I'm assuming you went for the remote box if so I use the cig. lighter for power even though i have hard wire connection as well. Ocassionaly and particularly on local roads (lots of cops) I get a high beaming tail gater. I'll unplug the v1 and plug it back in so that they can see it go off. usually they back off. for max benefit I just use the sun visor clip. for the lazer to effective as possible it has to be sitting up as high as possible. The best mod I saw was in a 911 996 mounted above the rearview and hardwired with the wires running behind the a pillar cover and under the dash

are the radar detectors saving you guys any citations??
around here we have to worry about unmarked cars sneakin up on us. You can pick up on them but you really have to watch the rearview. meanwhile, my main worry is all the a**holes who run the red lights hittin one of my kids :( edit: oops....sorry..... didn't mean to hijack the thread |
I just use mine old-school with suction cups at the bottom middle of my windshield -- wire hanging to the lighter. I also switch it between cars. Been doing this for 12 years now -- dozens of tickets saved.

The wiring is straightforward, I can't remember if the 05 has the phone power connector behind the dash, if so it's a breeze, if not you can just run the wires to the fuse box and tap in to an ignition 12v line with a wire tap.
Where you put it... that's all down to personal preference but it's really either the windshield or between the seats. Ont he windshied my preferred spot was up and right of the mirror just enough so the rear sensor is clear, this only works if you have a remote display though otherwise you'll need to be able to see the arrows. Also note... the dot near where it says "Laser" is the rear laser detector, you might obscure that... My preference... I had a bracket made to put my V1 between the seats and integrated the remote display in to the rear view mirror. I did 700 miles with it like this in the last 24 hours and I have to say it works great!
