Smile 2000 Boxster question

Hello Porsche brethren and sistren. Recently I noticed a rattle coming from underneath my 2000 Boxster and observed the rattle coming from what looks like a heat shield. Can anyone help me identify this part specifically and also educate me if this is a difficult part to replace on my own? Thanks in advance!

Looks like the mid pipe heat shield. Between the two Cats.

I can't tell from the picture if it is clamped or tack welded in place.

You should be able to put an exhaust pipe clamp around that heat shield at each end and clamp it down.

Or go to Midas muffler or any muffler shop and ask them to tack weld it back in place.
Shouldn't cost much and will work just fine.

I don't think that is a separate piece.
I believe it comes as part of the OEM exhaust system.

I'm new and have no idea what that is. That said, I would grab safety wire and wrap it 2 or 3 places.

I had an SVT Focus which lost a half of the shield off the cat, which you could not purchase on its own. I was not buying a new cat. It rattled and I fixed it with 2 loops of safety wire.

Good luck!!!

Thanks for taking a look, I agree about taking it to a muffler shop. I think that is my best bet.
