I'm gonna Guinee pig this one. I'm just gonna put them in the tires I'll either use the big zip tie (the Ford way) or just duct tape it to the inside (that works if you broke the Ford factory way LOL)

Why not try heavy-duty velcro strips? These are the same type that my EZ-Pass came with and they work very well:

You maybe want to look for internal metal/alu tpms valves with direct ios/android support.

I've seen these before and I'm glad you brought this thread up. It would be nice to have TPMS but the design model you linked is tacky. I assume it's because you don't have a DDIN receiver? I don't. There are the Bluetooth versions or what I would have went with a USB receiver with Android software using your phone/receiver/tablet. The cost would be the very similar to your link. The drawback versus yours is that it is software dependent. It's not internal like BRAN posted. As much as it's nice to have it hidden I wouldn't rely on or trust it's longevity in case I need to replace it.

I think I am going to use a "207" TPMS kit (its the kit that lots of chevy's use) its a rubber valve stem with a bolt on the end that I can affix some kind of bracketry to.



At anyrate I ordered a set; $30 like why not?!? and when that set arrives it goes in my RX7. I will keep yall apprized.

BUT they do work in there intended fashion. If you just screw them on the valve stems; they work GREAT. I have them on my wife's car right now. They aren't very clumsy or obtuse. If you weren't looking for them you'd never know they were there.

Very interesting. Don't they just replace your valve stem covers? (yeah, prolly a bit heavy).

Anywho, haven't tried but do look forward to your review. Would be a great mod for my enclosed car hauler.

Yeah, they are designed to replace the dust caps on the end of the valve stems, but they don't look "slick". LOL

The unit itself is solar powered, and it seems to be fine with partial sun. It doesn't need extra charging to stay on all the time.

They'd be great for car trailer use. I wouldn't put them on the outside of a tire in something that had aesthetic value (ie a boxster).


For $30 a set I just bought a few more. I've been jealous of all these new cars with their TPMS, but now I'm gonna have it in like all of my cars. :D

^^^ So I mounted them inside the tire. Its simple to install just take a TPMS kit cut a small notch into the steel shank. Then cut two 2 holes in the cap of the sensor. Zip tie them to the TPMS kit and pull it through the valve stem hole. (I didn't fully pull this one through because I'm still letting these wheels cure)

1000 Mile review time. Change the batteries. Change them first thing. They suffer the same issues as replacement oem TPM sensors. The batteries get drained as soon as they are installed in the sensor. So when they are installed at the factory they are draining. (that's the problem with current cars and "New" tpm sensors). BUT if you replace the batteries first thing you got no worries.

I like them. Not only do they tell you the pressure in the tire they tell you the temperature of the tire. I want to put them in a sports car and take them for a spin in the mountains so I can watch the temp change. :D

They are not 100% accurate, but they are close enough. I'd imagine they'd let you know if you had some puncture before it became an issue. BUT I wouldn't set my pressures by what they register.

All that said I bought two additional sets (one for my mom and one more for the Porsche). :D :D

Nope, no heavier than a normal TPMS you'd find on a post 2007 car.
