Cup holders

For a 1999 Boxster like mine, that didn’t come with cup holders, what solutions has the hive mind come up with?

Not sure what person or thread I found it on but I followed suit and went with ultimatecupholders.com

50 bucks for a pair though. I think you will hit it if you are super short and driving

You can still buy the factory, vent mounted holders, but they're bank.

they are also very fragile and really poor cup holders IMHO. I took the german route, I dont try to drink a beverage when driving a car. :+)

Ultimate cup holders are nice. I do hit mine 'cause my legs are short, but I can still use it, and I can reach the passenger side holder too.

I use the ultimate cup holder also. I'm 5'10" and have no problem.

Okay, Ultimate cup holders it is!

But this, below, is the correct answer.

I have the oem cup holder that mounts above the single DIN radio with it's hardware. Running without cup holders for now since I installed a double DIN radio. If you want it we can work out a deal.

There is also a cup holder that goes into the center console. It holds 2 cups. It stays inside the console and you can shut the lid, it has to stay open when it has drinks in it.

This...
Although the original owner of my car paid the dealership a small fortune to rework the dashboard controls and install cup holders, I don’t use them.
They only hold a typical take-out coffee cup or soda can, and then just barely.

Nice offer, Jimmy. Thank you. But I switched out my radio for a double din unit, too.

Make your own!

My solution to the cup holder "problem" was to make a insert for the console bin from a scrap of open cell foam. I keep the bin's lid propped open with a mini-bungie that connects the lid to the storage unit behind the seats. It works well and I use it almost every time I drive the car. You can see how I made it here (near the bottom of the page): https://rx19jones.wixsite.com/projectboxster/projectboxster4

cheers - dj
