Anyone familiar with this exhaust bypass?

Hi all.

I saw this "Soul Performance" exhaust bypass on Suncoast.

Exhaust Bypass EDIT: NEVERMIND. FOR SOME REASON THE FORUM WON'T LET ME POST A LINK TO SUNCOAST PARTS.

Here's a video of it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-SKeagcju_4&feature=emb_logo

No reviews on it. Is anyone familiar with this, and can give me a review? Reliability, sound, durability, etc.?

Or recommend another one?

I have them on my car. Very high build quality. Very good post- sales support. It is VERY loud, when open, if you've also gone catless (or hi-flow cats)

Do it. You won't be sorry.

I have them on my car. Completely stock aside from these. Loud. Easy install. I passed CA Smog with them on the car.

Reliability? So far so good. About 1500 miles on them. Durability? Minimal moving parts. High quality construction.
Would I buy again? I suppose so. The exhaust sounds great off idle. Fit great. No worries so far. I wanted to order a third controller to try and wire it into a dash switch. Nobody at Soul got back to me after two tries to contact them I gave up.

Where is the controller switch?

Do they actually give you a measurable increase in power, or are they just to annoy everyone around? I just saw the video and it sounds to me like one of those 4-banger fart boxes with an over-sized exhaust tip. Making noise for the sake of making noise. Just my opinion.

For some of us, a big part of the enjoyment of a car (any car) is the auditory experience. Frankly, the boxster (even the S) sounds stupid, unmodified. It sounds like the car the uninitiated THINK it is: a hairdresser's car.

With the valves, you can keep the neighbors happy and still enjoy this under every overpass, tunnel, off-ramp, etc.

Listen to this and tell me you think the sound is annoying.

Does it add power? I couldn't say. They cut out the exhaust before the muffler. Make noise for the sake of making noise? I guess that's one way of looking at it.

The controller is a key fob. The valves are opened and closed via a control box which opens a valve that is tapped into a line off the manifold.

I like them better than an aftermarket system. YMMV.

Fighting words. I have avoided 'upgrading' the exhaust because the boxster is hands down one of the best sounding exhaust notes on something non-exotic.

If I could keep the same exact exhaust note and just amplify it, that would be the most desirable outcome.

Do the internal muffler mod. Sounds great, not too loud. Almost free to do.

I think you haven't heard enough cars! ;-)

Just joshin'
Of course this is subjective. But to me, the boxster sounds simply boring.
That's why I have two of those lumps they call 'S mufflers' sitting in a storage shed getting old.

Boring.

I guess it doesn't sound as bad from inside the car, but it still reminds me of a fart box, sorry. I'm with beater986, the stock exhaust has a very nice note. (note his key words: on something non-exotic) I guess I would like it a little louder, but I don't want to change the note. Like you said, it's subjective.

But hey, nice recovery at 0:55! I probably would have done a 360 or worse!

Yeah..... did that too.... this link, at 1:28

I still think it's a shame that ya get a Porsche and it sounds like a Honda. Make it sound like a Porsche. My stock jeep sounds MUCH better than the stock boxster S. My neighbor's old Mazda does too. And my brother's Ford Fiesta. And my daughter's Subaru legacy. I could go on and on.
It's just a shame.

That is a sketchy angle to go off. Have seen one too many rollovers where a tire catches.
