Can SOMEBODY, ANYBODY Help Me With Keyfob?!?
Other than a dealer, that is. I know I can bring it there...
|
what do you need done? you need a new key fob programmed? you'll need someone with a PST2 or a PiWiS. If you were in Utah, I could help you out.
|
Hi maytag, yes. Well, sort of - I have two fobs that are not working anymore. I think I can get the buttons aligned and the red light flashes but they don't actually do anything.
That make sense? Where in Utah are you? I am sometimes in Park City |
If the actual key works, and only the switches on the fob are not functioning, there may be a problem with broken solder joints on the circuit board.
Forum member particlewave can help you out here. Just sayin'......... TO |

Just in case you didn't know about this, here's a little info from the owner's manual:

I have the same issue, but one key works fine and the other doesn't.
It flashes the same as the one working, I changed the battery and still does not work with the car. I just bought the car a week ago and the owner said maybe a battery. Possibly have to go to the dealer to get it programmed, I don't really need the key now but would still like both keys to be working. |

I had the same issue when I purchased my car. One key fob worked, one did not. I ended up going to the dealer to have a new key fob paired with the car. Rick

Two codes are needed to program a replacement key fob. One is for the fob itself and the other is for the car. The fob code comes on a tag with a new unit. The car code may be found under the driver's seat (I'm not 100% sure about this) or a Porsche dealer can provide it. The dealer just needs the Vin to get the code. They may be resistant to giving it out, but keep pushing to get it. I've had several fobs programmed in the past at an independent shop which used an Autologic computer to do the job. Takes about 10 to 15 minutes per fob.

I was being a wise-ass. No, there is no sticker under the seat.

There are no security codes under the seat. That would kind of defeat the purpose of them.
You have to get the security code from a Porsche dealer. You most likely will have to prove you own the car. I got my codes, but it took a few weeks, the dealer said they had to get Porsche USA approval first |

The registered owner must be at the dealer to effect the service. |

Actually mine didn't come with a key fob, so I never bothered. But, I actually believed that there could be a barcode under the seat! I mean, the Immobilizer is there, so why not a barcode? HAHA You got me! |

You know... I would have done the same thing. Probably would have pulled the seat "knowing" that I could save a couple hundred dollars in dealer fees. |
key troubles
my Boxster was purchased with just one 3 button key. When I found t wasn't working assumed, new battery. popped the case open only to find one of the contacts for the button was broken off on the circuit board. I have been to every locksmith in town & no one can help. they all said the Porsche dealer was my only choice. come on man... this is America there has got to be someone that can assist in making it come alive. Anybody have any connections?
