soft top removal

Good morning!

I've got the engine installed and running, and now need to fab new engine covers!

I'm interested in removing the entire top to make access easier. I've got the transmission arms removed, and was able to take out the 3 bolts on each side where the top pivot mounts.

This allowed the top to move around a small amount, but it would not go far enough in any direction to come off. Like the pivot plates were hitting on something.

Has anyone else carefully accomplished temporary removal? I'm not opposed to removing more parts as necessary but also don't want to just start taking off parts I don't need to.

The Bentley book doesn't seem to cover removal, just all of the adjustments and such.

Thanks in advance!

Have you removed the B pillar carpet piece? Here's a picture. Note that I'm pointing to one screw that needs to be removed and there is a small bolt (8 mm?) up top going to the roll bar. Also see the orientation of the plastic tabs - The piece pulls up, then away.

I've also seen a pair of smaller screws holding some top frames on. I'll see if I can find a detail of that.
