Becker BlueTooth Upgrade CDR-210 Question

Hey gang!

Just got my CDR-210 back from Becker this evening, and installed it back in the car. CD player still works fine. FM radio still works fine. But....I can't get the BlueTooth to work. To say I'm bummed is an understatement. I'm heading out on a road trip tomorrow AM and was hoping to get it working tonight.

FM radio is selected on the head unit, I can quickly connect to the BlueTooth module, and actually hear a "pop" that seems to validate the connection. When I open Pandora, the music app on the phone, or even YouTube, and hit play, I hear another "pop" that sounds like it wants to play, but get no audio.

Does the radio have to be tuned to a specific FM channel? Connecting to the BlueTooth module seems to "override" the FM function, but no matter what I've tried, no audio.

Any tips, or will I have to trouble-shoot with Becker on the phone tomorrow?

Thanks!

I don't have this specific item and you may have already done this but here's what I'd do...
1. Verify BT pairing instructions with Becker.
2. Does your phone show its connected?
3. Is volume up on your phone (and radio?) I've sometimes noticed that the volume levels on BT are lower than radio).
4. When you here the second 'pop', does your phone still show you are connected?
5. Try another BT source....another phone, tablet, anything.
6. Disconnect power to head unit (disconnect battery or unplug head unit from harnesses).

Best of luck!

Does the BT module play through FM or Aux input?

This may sound too simple but is the volume on your phone turned to max?

Thanks for the input gang...I'm waiting to hear back from Becker. I get the same result through both an iPhone 8 and an iPhone 12. I have a suspicion it's going to have to go back, but we'll see.

Figured I'd provide an update in case anyone is interested in doing this upgrade.

I did have to send the head unit back to Becker, as the BlueTooth was not producing any audio despite my trying several phones. They identified the issue (not sure what it was) and sent it back to me in working order. The only expense I incurred was shipping it to them for a second time.

The audio quality isn't spectacular, but certainly listenable. I didn't expect that it would be given it seems to be routed through the FM circuitry. I just wanted the ability to play Pandora in the car, and I use it as background noise, not for critical listening. If you're a "keep things OEM" nut like I am, but want a bit of modern convenience, it's a great option!

So what was the bottom line on this upgrade?

Becker is a bunch of clowns. They messed up my antenna connection on my radio and I had to send it back for repair. I too had to pay the shipping back to them to correct their screw up.

They essentially install a BlueTooth module in the factory radio so you can stream to it from your phone. It's actually pretty slick, and allows you to keep the OEM radio while adding a bit of modern convenience.

Yeah, I wasn't 100% thrilled with having to pay for the shipping back to them given that the upgrade didn't work, but I'm happy with the end result, so I'm not going to lose sleep over $15.
