My 2000 / 2001 / 2002...

Guys,

I am aiming to purchase a used (less than 15K miles) Boxster S in the next few months. I have done some research, but it's so much easier to ask individuals whom immerse themselves in this stuff all day long:

Can anyone give me a basic list of what the pros / cons of each model year are for 2000, 2001, and 2002? (03's are out of the ? due to cost).

I believe all 3 years had the exact same HP (250) and torque (225), but I know year to year they had to have changed some little things that would make or break a decision between the years...

Is there one year out of the three listed above that is more desireable than the others? Were there any cosmetic changes other than paint / interior colors?

Thanks in advance,

Jeremy

All I can say is buy it sooner than later as prices are going to begin to slightly go up closer to the summer season.

I don't think you can go wrong with any of the 3 years. I think that there was changes in the 2002 in terms of the bumper cover and the lights in the front. Other than that, I don't think that there are too many changes. I think in 2002, they added the cup holder to the dash, so the console configuration looks a bit different.

Minor things. I think in 1997-1999, there were some minor problems with the engine and other buggy things that were fixed in 2000.

I'm not giving you much info am I? Sorry, perhaps some others can answer your questions more, but I don't think you can go wrong with any of the 3 years.

Congratulations.

In a few months it will be 5 years for me. Buy the newest one you can afford.

2002 added a glove box as well I believe. With the sparse storage space in cars of this type, any extra is a benefit... but the previous Boxsters still have way more space than comparable models from others (esp. F/R storage areas).

Donv, I test drove a 02 S and it didn't have a glovebox. My 03 S does though. I think maybe that wasn't added until 03, but I could be wrong.

What year was the first glass rear window? I think it was 2004? That would be a nice difference.
