Coolant recommendation
Guys
My Cousin has a '03 S, and the coolant tank is just above the low coolant warning level. He has yellow coolant and wants to replenish the overflow tank and not have to do a complete flush. He is aware of the danger of mixing coolants. I had green in my '99 when the tank split and after research used Peak Pink premixed to top up. I see Dex-Cool is recommended for his car, as is Peak Pink. Please give me your opinions. TIA |

I agree with distilled water. Cheap, easy, quick. If he lives in SoCal, it rarely gets cold enough to even need antifreeze, so a little bit of dilution should be fine.

You can get distilled water at wallyworld. IIRC, it $0.88/gal
If your replacing the coolant get the Porsche unicorn sperm otherwise known as coolant. Yes its expensive, buy what mess with mother nature. You can get it from ware house 33 auto . Com (remove spaces) enter RENNLIST in the promo box and get an extra 10% off. Last time I checked the genuine Porsche stuff was discounted there |
Word on the street is that the Volkswagen/Audi coolant is the same as Porsche coolant, just cheaper. Your mileage may vary, so please proceed with caution.
As with the others, top up with distilled water. It's cheap, and the quantity is so low, it won't make or break the cooling system or motor. |
I used VW G13 pentosin.

Don't sweat it and use your stimulus check to buy the Porsche coolant LOL

I just ordered Zerex G40 to do a purge and refill. Pelican parts was out of the Porsche version.

Thanks for the replies. He is in SoCal and does not drive a lot, but I seriously think he has never checked the coolant tank. Yesterday I looked at it when he asked me and it is not a couple cups low...it is almost empty. Just high enough to cover the low level sensor.
He's a cheapskate, so I'm just asking: Peak Pink or Dex-Cool to fill the tank. Thanks! |

A cheapskate driving a Porsche!? Something is off here lol. |
I've been running Dex Cool in my 98 Boxster for at least 10 years. Don't mix coolants, drain/ flush and refill.
