Aos
Hi guys - my experience has been with an 02, but now I have an 04 SE. I believe that an 04 has a different AOS than the 02. Seems like there is a significant difference in how it’s attached. The books all seem to focus on instructions for replacement and installation of the earlier version. Does anyone have any instructions (procedures) for the 04 or preferably does a video exist? Overall, is the later AOS considered to be an easier swap than the 02? Thanks!

You won't even need procedures! AOS on 03 and 04 cars is not a tough job at all. You do everything from the top. It may look a little daunting but everything is reachable.

Thanks Dghii !

The hose clamp removal tool is a big help, other than that, nothing out of the ordinary.

What is the hose clamp removal tool? Thanks.

+1 on getting the clamp tool. It definitely makes it easier.

I got the factory clamp off w/o the tool, but it took a lot of work. Once off, I threw the clamp as far out of the garage as I could and replaced it with a normal screw-type clamp. Made future replacements much easier.

Or, are you reusing the old clamp and the old hose? Thought not. ;) |
I'm referring to the clamp that's at the bottom of the hose that goes into the engine. I didn't cut the hose since I wanted to reuse it.

I could tell mine was the original AOS because, at 14,500 miles when I received my car... and replaced the AOS... that hose melted like butter in my fingers when I went to remove it. For the kinda PITA the procedure... I opted to drop a few extra bucks on that hose. Cheers! |
