wheel caps

I needed some wheel caps for my snow tires but didn't want to fork out $50 each so I ordered some cheap ones from aliexpress:

These are the silver-gold 76mm. Fit fine. Finish is nice for less than $17 with shipping for four. It did take 45 days, so don't be in a hurry. When they got here it dawned on me they came direct from China. Each cap was enclosed in a closed plastic wrap along with some chinese air. I did open them outside, and tossed the wrappings in the garbage and washed my hands. Evidently no harm done. So now its time to take the snows off. Next project, pads and rotors.

That's great, but I'm now taking a more long-term view, and discontinuing the purchase of any goods made there. I realize this can complicate your life. Try finding a bathroom faucet not made in China!

Did you remove fron the emblem the protective plastic? It will peel off.

I figured that out a year after mine had been installed. :o

I didn't notice, I will look when I go out. Thanks.

I ordered some of those, and they do look great. However, they don't fit in the wheel correctly; they aren't flush with the surface of the wheel, they are recessed.

Are the crests decals or painted?

Racer Boy 03-29-2020 02:26 PM

They are painted, the crests are textured.

Last I saw, China has had a total of some 82000 cases of covid-19. The USA has just surpassed 120,000 cases. I wouldn’t be overly concerned about ordering from China. There are more important measures to put/keep in place! Stay home, wash those hands, drink red wine and read that book!

And we all know the Chinese are very open and honest about everything...

Though I agree with your overall point, the Chinese government ALSO says nobody died at Tiananmen square.... I'm not sure we should put much faith in the 82k number.

Check out how much of our prescription medications are manufactured in China and you'll really be concerned. Much of what we have in our medicine cabinets is made in Chinese factories.

Until the world begins to shift away from so much product dependency and cost savings from a closed, dictatorial, dishonest country we're all in danger. China can wage war against the world by simply slowing down or stopping the production of all that they make.

Just one man's opinion.

Karma for NBA...remember last fall when they came to the rescue of China when the Rockets GM came out in support of Hong Kong? All we heard was how wonderful China was. BS.
Doesn't bother me a bit the NBA season was cut short.

My bad on the political take....I'm shutting up. Not the place for it.

I am convinced the last things made in the USA were my kids. :D

And a good one!

we all (and hopefully the economy) learned, that China shouldn't be the workshop of the world…a good lesson.

Really...only faucets made in China? Now that is serious…:D
