Notes: Light and ignition switches were replaced by previous owner about two years ago.

Hi folks,

My independent Porsche shop recently diagnosed my daytime running light relay as faulty. They noticed that the lights on the passenger side don't light up. I've noticed this myself a few times as well but thought nothing of it as the issue is intermittent.

Fast forward, I replaced the daytime running light relay (ouch, not cheap!) Upon replacing the relay, I noticed several things:

1. The head lights are brighter than before
2. My dashboard lights up upon starting the car - It did not do this before.

I had a 996.2 before, but never paid attention to the dashboard lights, unfortnately.

I leave my light switch in the "off" position at all times, unless it's dark out, and I need to turn the head lights on by switching the light switch to the right. Prior to changing the daytime running light relay, the dashboard lights did not light up until I moved the switch position to the far right.

Is it normal for the dashboard lights to come on automatically for Canadian cars? What difference does it make if I move the light switch to the far right, compared to the "off" position (see picture attached.) Any insight is appreciated. Thanks!
