Is this bad boy the cause of my rattle?

I have an annoying rattle that comes from the rear. It's there at startup and at low RPMs. Noticed this busted bushing today, could this be my holy Grail? If so, what else should I replace once I replace this one? Thanks guys!

That will absolutely never cause of any RPM-related rattle, but it sure needs replaced anyway. For some reason I can't open the video, but it it's RPM related, it could be a number of things. Loose heat shields around your exhaust, loose honeycomb inside the cats, among other things.

What you're looking at is a ball joint, not a bushing. That split is in the boot which keeps grease in and dust out. It is definitely NOT the source of your "rattle". But it should be changed soon.

The video? Yeah.... I can't hear it..... and I've said it before: on a video, everything sounds like a rod-knock.

Thanks guys! I'll continue the search and add control arms to my ever growing list haha

Hopefully it is just a loose honeycomb because I'll be replacing my cats soon

Remove your serpentine belt and twist your water pump pulley. Mine had the same noise and I could not pin it down till the water pump failed 3 days ago. Listen to me spinning my old pump and compare it with your video.

Holy ******************** man, I think you hit it right on the head! And if not then at least it gave me something else to do haha going to replace the belt along with it. Question: Were you able to hear it while driving? For example, driving in a tunnel or next to a wall, would you be able to hear the rattling kind of bounce off? That's what it feels like for me

I did hear it at low RPMs like you said, but I have a loud exhaust and the sound of the exhaust masked the sound of the water pump pulley so it was hard to tell. When I removed my serpentine belt to twist the pulley it didn't twist so I was still not sure if it was it, but when I removed it, it was obvious. Give it a shot and see how it feels. If it's not it and you have never replaced your pump, replace it anyways. When mine went out it made even weirder noises, constantly leaked coolant onto my headers and made a very dramatic scene.

Familiar rattle on my water pump too.
But it can be one of the idle pulley also.
What I did is, I removed the firewall cover and then let the engine run and use a plastic hose (like a stethoscope) and use one end of the hose to place it closer to each part along the belt cycle and one end of the hose close to my ear. You will really hear which one is making the rough sound.

Guys, I think we found it. Check it out or am I just hearing things?
