Help needed: Id + fit questions

Hi,

I am looking for some assistance identifying this front bumper (Pic below of Fred's car). From what I have seen on the web, it appears to be a 996 C4S OR 996 GT bumper. I am sure many forum members have done this upgrade hence seeking some counsel:

1. Is this the OEM 996 C4S OR 996 GT bumper and do the OEM fit the 986? if not what is the best aftermarket one that is worthy of pursuing that fits the 986

2. Is eBay the best source to hunt for them or anyone aware of a Porsche broker (used parts specialist) I should pursue.

3. Also, I do like of the 996 HID's. Will these fit our 986 (Mine is a 98).

Many thanks for your assistance.

can't help you except to note that

- that is an aftermarket bumper cover; porsche didn't make anything that looked like that.
- the 996 changed headlights in 2002 or something; look at the shape of the headlight you posted and compare it to that of fred's car - different.

Fred's front bumper cover is aftermarket.

If you want to convert to a second generation 996 front end, read this: Official 986 to 996 Front-end Conversion Thread

Use the HID litronjc headlight from 986 or early 996.

Many thanks for the input. Found the bumper at PORSCHE GT2 BUMPER, SIDE SKIRTS

Definitely not looking for the $6-$8K upgrade to the generation 2 996.

I have this same bumper on my car. I bought it from Xtreme Motorcars on eBay. Fit was ok though I massaged it in some areas I didn’t like the design.
