Vandalized 2000 Boxster

Hello All,

Hope everyone is doing well and wishing them a great holiday!

I would really appreciate any advice or help with my recently bought 2000 boxster off Copart.

Context:
The car looked brand new and in amazing condition, however, this was least from it when it arrived. The car had been vandalized and someone was trying to steal the car. They messed with the ignition and removed the vents.

The issue:
Just replaced the battery and tried turning the car on. The key turns and the lights dim as if the car is going to start but nothing. No click noise as well. The car cannot be locked using dash button nor from the key. The radio is stuck in wait as well. The lights do turn on and the windows, AC, and so forth work.

I have been reading none stop and have come across some possible culprits.

1- ignition switch

Just bought a new switch and will install it this break.

2 - clutch interlock switch

Was able to remove it but car will still not turn on.

3- immobilizer needs to be replaced

Praying I don't need to replace the ECU, key, and DMD

Would love any input on this situation.

Thank you!

If they were messing around the ignition, the transponder coil may be damaged or unplugged.

If the lights dim the starter is trying to crank but doesn't have enough oomph to turn the engine. I'd check everything from and between the battery and the starter. My guess is that its either a weak battery or a bad ground connection.

When you turn the key, do you hear the fuel pump activate? A problem with the immobilizer will prevent it from activating. I had a similar issue, with a $700 car that had been vandalized. I bought a replacement ECU, immobilizer, and keys and locks off of EBay. Cranked right up after new parts installed.
