Fuel Lock Actuator

So my car was in the body shop to get the front bumper replaced. The guys swear that they did not take off the fender, just the wheel liner (which is attached to the bumper, I guess).

When the car came back the fuel lock actuator would not retract. I opened the fuel tank with the manual emergency release, but it does not seem to be moving with door lock/unlock (ie, now that the pin is retracted the fuel door no longer will lock).

Any ideas what might be the cause / culprit? How could taking off the wheel liner result in the actuator no longer functioning?

Is there a fuse I can check?

The actuator it tucked up behind the EVAP canister. You have to remove the EVAP canister to even get to the actuator. However if the wheel liner was removed I would check the wire I have circled with red in this picture to make sure it didn't get unplugged.

Thank you.

Is there any way to test without taking off the wheel liner again?

Is there any fuse I can test?

Is there anything else other than the circled wire that might be responsible? (bearing in mind what you said about it’s location behind EVAP).

AFAIK, the fuel door lock is tied in with the door locking system. So if the door lock fuse is working, then the fuel door lock should be working.

Correct.

Does that mean I have to take off the wheel liner to see if the cable is unplugged and that is the only viable culprit at this point (other than a coincidental catastrophic failure of the actuator)?

Thanks. So are there not any other possible culprits aside from the suggestion of a possibly disconnected wire (other than a rather unusual coincidental catastrophic failure of the actuator)? And does this require removal of the wheel liner to check?

It seems that I have the same problem as you. There is no power to the actuator when closing the doors with the remote.
Any news ? Did you solve this problem ?
