Cleaned out my radiators
 

After 3 summers of driving my 2001 Boxster I found time to remove the bumper and clean out the radiators. I read some how to posts and watched a few videos like Burner's. I didn't jack up the car, and only removed 3 plastic pins in the fender liner to get to the screw under the side light. I turned the wheel to the right to make room to get my hand behind the liner. I was surprised at how much stuff was in between and around the radiators. I can't say when or if it was ever done before. My car has 50,000 miles and is pretty clean overall. If the stuff was allowed to get wet it could cause corrosion around the outside, and it does block some airflow. Best tip I learned was to spray some WD-40 or something like that on the plastic pins to make them easier to pull out. The replacement went slow and easy, check for alignment in all edges as you push it back on. I spent about 3 hours and took pictures I'll try to post.

I'll have the same project up ahead during this winter... also with 2001

I was most surprised by how much stuff gets in between the two coils.

I cleaned the mess from the radiators/condensors a couple years ago. There was some debris. Maybe 4-5 cups-equivalent. Decided to install mesh. Couple/few months ago cleaned them again. There was some debris. Maybe 1/2 cup. Maybe. Maybe. ;)

The mesh look cleaner than those ugly gaping holes.

Thanks for the post....I just bought mine last month and only had time to put a couple wax jobs on her and check a few things out then I had to put her up for the Illinois winter which already has us by the b@lls.
So I will be doing this to mine also next spring....I bought mine from a 1 owner that lived in TX for the last 20 years so it will be interesting to see what it looks like.

Thanks Starter986, l searched "mesh" and saw some different ways to cover those gaps. I think it would help keep the trash out. I'll get some to try and see how it looks.🤔
