Key fobs not working - help

I have a 2000 Boxster S and both key fobs have stopped working. They both have new batteries and the LED lights up on both when the door or the trunk buttons are pushed. Both keys work fine to open the door manually or start the car.

So far I have tried putting each key into the ignition, turning on the accessories, removing the key, and pressing the door button for more than 10+ seconds within 5 seconds of it being removed.

The one odd thing is the LED light on the center dashboard no longer blinks. Is this an indicator that something is not working correctly in the car receiver>

Any other suggestion for what I'm doing wrong or how to diagnose this further?

Thanks!

wet carpet under drivers seat?

Do you have a wet carpet?

Nope - I have never noticed any water inside. The car is always garaged and I also have a hard top that's used for the "wet" season from November through March.

You can still run the car, yeah?
Sounds like you have a bad receiver.

Yep, the car runs fine.

Is there a way to diagnose the receiver further and does it generate error codes that can be read?

If it is the receiver, what part needs to be replaced?

Thanks!

Did both fobs stop working at the same time?

I can't remember if they both stopped at the same time. I've been using the keys to manually open the door for some time.

Just curious, does the center dash LED dash not blinking no matter if the car is locked or unlocked indicate there's some problem with the security system/receiver in the car?

I couldn't say for sure; I've never seen this problem before, so I'm just making an educated guess. I believe the part is # 996 653 251 00, or item #2 in illustration 809-01 of the parts catalog.
But I would check to make sure that unit is getting power before replacing it. The problem may be upstream (try fuse box)
