Scuffing Noise

Hi Chaps
I wonder anyone can shed any light on a scuffing noise coming from the ns rear wheel of my Boxster S.

It doesn't do it all the time but sound a lot like the disc is catching on the disc cover plate. Starts when going round a bend and the load is on that side of the car.

The car has recently had new discs and pads all round. Iv had it to two garages but the can see any problem.

There eis not play in the wheel bearing or bushes

Next step may be the remove the disc backing plate then try it

Another member had a spring loose inside the emergency brake drum and it was making noise. You may want to check your drum brakes.

I had this on mine. It was the dust plate on the back of the disc. There isnt much ‘move’ in it but it got a press/push and noise gone. This could be a solution.

Agree with the spring comment also.

I had this recently and it was the parking brake cable rubbing on the wheel.

I get this sometimes and it's really annoying. Its definitely the back plate behind the disc.

Bizarrely enough, if I reverse for a metre or so it clears and doesn't come back for several weeks.

I had it too, I was sure that it wasn't the plate behind the disk, but when I removed it the sound went away..
