Maybe not the fuse?
Hi all,
I've been carpooling with my better half for the last couple of weeks, and my Box's battery is dead. Just clickclickclicking. While I was trying to start it, the (aftermarket) stereo display went a bit haywire, and then the stereo came on in standby mode. Now, this shouldn't be interesting. But here's why it is: For some time now, the stereo fuse would blow at random intervals. The last time this happened, I didn't replace it. So now I'm wondering if all those blown fuses over the last year or so weren't actually blown at all and there is some other explanation for the stereo cutting out occasionally. Backstory: I took the car to an auto electrical specialist last year for this problem. He tested the battery and wiring, and told me the problem is in the stereo head unit. Some short or something was causing the fuse to blow. |
You're battery has ben dead for weeks? Fix your battery first and and see what's up after that.

Yeah, if your battery is dead, get it checked. But, what your are describing seems more like a charging/low voltage while running issue. Check your alternator/voltage regulator and see if the alt is outputting a proper current.

I jumped it last night, drove it for around half an hour, turned it off. Started it back up, and it seemed fine. Started fine this morning.
And now it's developed a new minor problem: the passenger window doesn't go all the way down with one touch of the button. I can hold the button, and it will drop all the way. The driver side works properly. Did the battery jump fry something in the window control? |
Hmmm sound like a bad ignition switch !
