Check engine light mystery

I keep getting a CEL on my 2000 Boxter S. Scan of codes keeps saying the same Oxy sensor. Changed it twice and light comes back on after a few days. Could it be the MAF with only one sensor being indicated?

The MAF and O2 sensors are not related.

You likely have a connector issue. Try cleaning the connector with electrical contact cleaner and ensure it is fully seated.

It could be the catalytic converter is shot.

Also, there are two O2 sensors on each side. You should replace both.

What are the specific codes?

You don’t have to replace both. OBD codes will tell you which sensor network has an issue. Agree with PW. You most likely have a wiring issue. Other possibilities include too much anti-seize on last O2 install...did some get on the sensor?

you could swap the wiring of the O2 sensors lett to right if they reach to see if the code moves or not.
