Yuck.

In my not-so-humble opinion the best looking taillights for a 986 remain the solid red '04 SE taillight.

Here replacing a blacked out set that came on one of my '99 Boxsters.

Everyone has their own tastes, and can certainly do what makes them happy - but I am no fan of these aftermarket LED and 718 style lights. To me it doesn’t “modernize” the car - it just looks out of place. I chose to replace my worn and slightly yellowed old units with those from the OEM manufacturer (and covered them with clear LaminX). I sold the old ones to offset the cost. My tail lights are original to the car, and have the great 986.2 clear lenses (with silver coated amber bulbs). I think she looks great for nearly 17 years old.

those aftermarket lights are unattractive IMHO.
I prefer the red/clear as shown above by grc0456
