belt tensioner arm/pulley

I am trouble shooting an intermittent noise from the belts/pulleys. I removed the belt and ran the car without belts, no noise. I checked the pulley and rollers and did not find and real issues.

I put the belt back on a discovered that the tensioner arm is not moving the whole distance, about a 1/4 of an inch of travel can be pushed by hand. I am thinking that is the problem.

If so, is the solution a new tensioner arm or is this a lubrication issue?

Just the fact that you can push the arm by hand makes me think the tensioner is shot. Is there any wobble in the pulley? Are you sure you're not moving just the pulley and not the arm?

Either way, any kind of movement would not be solved with lubrication.

SLide a 15mm open end wrench behind the pulley there is a nut. Crank the nut on the fron with a 24mm socket. it will tighten up the nutand the pulley will move normally. I did this just last week.

I solved my issue!
