Do a search for 'Continental radio' you should see many threads about this unit that has a retro look ideal for the Boxster.

You want an aftermarket stereo want want to stay stock? Why not just stay stock? If you want aftermarket your choices are endless, just search Crutchfield.

That's an interesting option. Great price also. Any pics of it installed that you could share. How is the phone mount?

Yup, the new Bluetooth Cassette tapes from BASF will fit...
some pics of my WIP Installation. Bespoke burl wood frame for the Radio will be done. Pioneer Logo will go, therefor Porsche logo on the slot. It is all about details...lol.
Uhm...my pre WW2 iPhone holder...fully operational already, though still missing a sun screen.

It's a phone dock that turns your phone into the stereo's screen. Pretty cool, actually.

Bran - did your car have an AMP? Was the hookup easy? Any pieces of wisdom you could share as my CDR23 is giving some random "protect" errors so need to replace and this Pioneer unit seems like a cost effective and simple solution.

See my comments in this thread along with pictures of what cables I have. I don't have an amp, I only have Front left and right speakers so connections should be simple.

That was an easy swap. You only need the DIN connectors A, B & Antenna F.
I additionally got the Pioneer back up unit (around 50 bucks), so it offers the back up screen on the phone as well (too bad not for the front as well).
--> I tried to hook up my previous "non Pioneer" back up unit, did not work.

As there comes a DIN adaptor with the Pioneer head unit, you will have the opportunity the switch ground and plus. Really easy peasy.

Short note: Voice Control in an open vehicle is...let's carefully say...sub optimal, lol.

Thanks for the info Bran. I have been watching some of the continental ones on eBay but this one is less expensive and I like the phone integration.
