Today styling for all new cars seems to feature as large a grill as possible. The worst cases are Lexus where they look like a Marshall amplifier sitting on a snow plow. God awful in my opinion.
This example looks like the original bumper may actually be underneath the tacked on unit. Not to my taste but to each his own.

So all the luxury makers are amping up their grills for all markets across the world. The BMW kidneys keep getting bigger. They are now so large they have a thermostat controlled blockers to close of the slats in the kidneys in cooler weather.
