P0343 - Accessing wires

Anyone have any advice on how to access the connector to the camshaft position sensor on bank 1 (2000 S, bank 1 is behind the passenger seat [North America] at the back of the engine)? I can see the connector tucked under the AOS, but can't get in their to look at the wires let alone test their connectivity/resistivity. Should I try to pull off the passenger side intake?
The car is new to me. It is running good, but seems fuel economy is poor (can't give a number yet) and it has had a couple rough starts. Durametric is showing a flatline value of zero for the sensor.
