Coil pack reccomendations?
Hello all, last week I replaced the pads and rotors as well as changed the oil. The oil filter wasnt tight or the oring failed so I was leaking oil. I got some degreaser and a hose and cleaned underneath the engine. As I drive off the ramps the car is running like crap. Engine light came on and 2 cylinders are misfiring. I cleared the codes and I parked in the garage for 2 days. Car starts and runs fine now with no codes. I'm looking at new coil packs and curious if there is a difference in brands for a non tracked daily driver? Its a 2003 base with 45,000 miles thank you

Buy cheap. Buy twice. |

you should find quality coil packs for around 30 bucks each if you buy 6 IMHO, if they aren't cracked or faulting...they are working, but I understand. Its comforting to replace all of them at once. To that point, its a good time to replace the spark plug tubes and sparkys at the same time. |
Your 2003 model will not have spark plug tubes, so don't worry about buying those.

I replaced all of mine at once... even though all of them seemed to be operating properly. Bought the car with 114K, and had no benchmark, so I set my own. Also... shared with other members the ones I removed. Gratis. Cheers! |
My 99 was throwing CEL on the left bank so I replaced them with Beru like $35 each. the old ones looked fine obviously had issues. While I was at it I did the right bank of cylinders which were NOT throwing CEL. WOW! They were cracked I couldn,t believe they were still working.

When I replaced mine last fall I used the updated 997 part. The potted area on the 997 part is a little deeper so you have to use a longer screw but the coils came with new ones. I used the Beru units.

Don't forget y'all can check coil packs with an ohm meter. 115k miles on my originals...no cracks and ohm tests are within specs (forgot the numbers but found it before in search).
