Great idea....a little pricey
 

Saw these on an email from PCA. Screens that mount directly to the air inlet duct to the radiators. Pretty cool how they mount and that you can't really see them. But for $199 I think i'll make something from gutter guard for $10 like some other guys have done before on here. Anyways here is the link https://porshascreens.com/

for a direct fit no fuss screen kit, it doesn't seem that bad. But yes it looks like you could make something from screen door screen with a little time and effort.

Based on how much crap finds its way between the A/C condenser and the radiator, and how small the spaces are between the fins on the condenser, I have to wonder if these screens will really be effective.

But if the screens and the included vacuum attachment really work it looks like a good deal for something already made to fit from stainless steel.

Doesn't a screen like this block the air from getting to the radiator at a certain speed?

Years ago and I mean years ago I used to install Satellite dishes, the big ones, like 10" dishes at people homes. We could put in a dish that was a solid piece of white fiberglass or one of the black mesh type dishes and I just remember about being told the mesh dish would act just like the solid dish when the wind hit a certain speed, so there was no advantage of the mesh dish as to allowing the wind to flow through it once the wind hit a certain speed. People were asking this as they were curious how much wind the dish could handle before breaking. We did switch over to the mesh dish as they did look better and were much lighter and easier to install, but not because they gave any wind resistance strength advantage.

Interesting. I'm not sure I would want ANY airflow restriction on purpose. Given the crap that already gets in the rads, perhaps its a wash? I do try to clean mine a couple times a year. The more flow the better IMO.

Yeah, I'm not sure I would want a 30% reduction in air flow year round. Wouldn't that be close to eliminating the 3rd radiator Porsche added to the Boxster S? I DD my Boxster and clean the radiators once a year. The last cleaning I only had a few leaves and a cigarette butt. I don't think they were causing a 30% reduction in the air flow.

I installed mesh screens August 2017, and have noticed zero increase in operating temperature. At full operating temperature it's the same now as it was then.

Further, it mitigates damage to the radiators from debris.

Mine stays on.
