Good/great wheel find? 🙄

Came across an for sale ad for a staggered set of 19" supposed 911 GT wheels. Couldn't tell much from the pics except they were gold The seller said that he got them on trade and thought they were anodized gold from the factory. I go look and see that they have been spray painted gold. Bought them and with a little elbow grease the gold comes right off leaving the original brush aluminum and argent color insets. $300 with useable, I think, Z rated directional tires. Cautiously optimistic

.

Those are 997.1 turbo wheels and they look like replicas to me (real ones have the width and offset stamped beside the valve stem). Still, not a bad deal if the tires are usable and I'm surprised you were able to get the paint off so cleanly!

I'm.shocked too. It's seems on the one pictured they didn't sand/scuff it up before painting. I hope that is true for the others as well. The tires look decent and, if they fit, how they drive out is the big thing. I think they are repros as well. Although they look fine.

Well they bolt up. No spacers, not cleaned at all just gold removed. Excuse the mess but I haven't driven it for a wheel and battery is dead

You got a deal. I wouldn't drive them on rough roads though the extra weight is more punishment on your suspension and wheel bearings which can cost more than the car to replace. I have those same Turbos in 18" but the rears required a $200 set of spacers and bolts. $900 all in. One cracked and the replacement was not cheap because nobody wants to split up a set of staggered wheels. One member here had the factory original Turbos in Boxster fit. Pretty rare.

Unrelated, man have the price of 5 spoke factory Carreras gone up. Even beaten up used wheels are going for $600 per wheel.
