Heated Front Left Seat

This morning, I tried to turn on the heat for my left front seat. The light turned red for a moment while pushing it and then shut right off. In 16 years of ownership, never had this issue. Any ideas?

Did you check the fuse? How about the passenger side... is that heating/light remaining on?

There is a relay under the seat bottom. The one on your seat may have failed. If the heating on your passenger seat works, swap the relays. If the driver seat heater work after the swap you need a new relay.

Can the relay under the seats be removed/swapped without removing the seat?

I can see it and put my hand on it if I raise the seat. Here's the part number: 996.618.521.00 and a picture showing the relay, the bracket that attaches to the seat frame and the electrical harness:

You will need to remove the wiring harness which may be fairly tight. Then, if I recall correctly, the relay is attached to the seat frame with a plastic rivet. It may be difficult to remove that rivet with the seat attached to the car. You may need to remove the fasteners that hold the seat in place and tilt the seat so that you have enough space to access the plastic rivet.
