Wheels

I just purchased a 2004 Boxter Aside from the IMS bearing change any other recommendations ?
The car currently has 16" wheels I was thinking of upgrading to a black setMy question can I put a larger wheel on ( preferred look) and if so what do I look for in sizing, tires and offset.

Thanks dave

Welcome dave.
A quick search through this forum will help you discover a couple of things;
1st, that there is no consensus on whether you should or should not replace the IMS. so don't do that and blame it on us, haha.
2nd: lots and lots of threads on wheels, sizes, offsets, styles, etc.

Uh, a 2004 S should not have 16" wheels
It should have 17" or 18". 16" probably would hit the calipers

From the owners manual:

Also, you may want to introduce yourself in your first post and without pictures it ain't real

IMS suggestion came from reading other pre purchase comment on Boxter prior to 2011 and a local Porsche Mechanic. If this information was incorrect then great But there are a percentage of them that have issues due to the style of IMS bearing they used. The car have been full maintained and have records of regular oil changes in proper intervals. As for well size it is not a Boxter S so that is why I was asking
Thanks for your input

I bought my spacers from this place. Very high quality. I almost bought rims from them when I couldn’t find any BBS Sport Classic II’s which I did finally find.

Look at the chart for tire sizes ^^^
Lots of places online for wheels

Doesn't matter what year for a 986, the wheels/tires are the same other than 98 (99?) where they don't recommend 18's due to structural design

Do you have a base or and S?
