Need a little help please....solid/semi solid motor mounts???...

Hi all:

I have a supercharged 2.5L and I need to figure out a way to limit the amount of engine movement, please let me explain.

The engine got new factory mounts not too long ago but, on spirited turns and under hard acceleration, the engine will "torque clockwise and the output pipe for the SC will make contact with the right side lower suspension link, I have done all I can to minimize this but could still use a little help.

I have done a search but have not found conclusive answers.

Has anyone installed aftermarket mounts that are stiffer than factory?, did you benefit from this?, I understand vibration will migrate on to the chassis and will be felt but, Is it "that" much more?....

Any input or ideas will be greatly appreciated.

Thank You.

Have you tried a 987 motor mount. That's what I run on my 3.6L. I tried semisolid mounts and had problems high rpm with G loads setting off the knock sensors that put the motor in limp mode.

The other part of the equation are the transmission mounts.....there are a few aftermarket choices including a Rennline one that is tunable.

Can you come up with a limiter strap of some sort ? I have heard that if motor mounts are too stiff ( how much is too stiff ??? ) that it can wreak havoc with the knock sensors .

I used the Wevo semi-solid engine mount with the Wevo semi-solid transmission mounts. No problems with knock sensors (maybe I was lucky) but there was a huge amount of vibration. Yes, it was THAT much more. Ultimately, I went back to the stock engine mount but kept the semi-solid trans mounts. YMMV.

You can give them both a try to see if this fixes your problem and if the vibe level is acceptable - all you have to lose is some time and money.
