loud thump rear axle

02 986 S Tiptronic with 75K

I get an occasional thump out of the rear axle, almost like it slips in gear then reengages, thump...its happened 4 or 5 times over the last week.

Could be cooincidence, BUT this is right after I did the tranny service about 2 weeks ago. I am getting a temp code on the transmission, but suspect faulty sensor as it comes sometimes when cold, sometimes it doesn't come even after long hot rides, etc and the transmission seems to be functioning perfectly.

I would re-torque the axle to transmission bolts.

Thanks for the response but I cant see this being an issue. I was under the car last week and everything was tight, I never removed the axles.
