Dead animal smell from heater vents

My gf is driving the car today, and reports a horrendous smell from the vents when she turned on the heater. Has anyone had this happen? Where should I look for a carcass?

I would check the cabin air filter, then move to looking in the area under the plastic surrounding the battery - all this is under the front hood.

I've farted dead animals before. What did your GF have for lunch? Make sure she eats something bland before borrowing your car next time...

Sorry. I apologize in advance...
