Key Fob Question

Hello Folks!

It's been a very long time since I posted anything. Frankly, life has been way too busy for boxstering. But I'm back!

After a number of months in the garage on the trickle charger, I decided to dust off the car and start driving it again now that it's not so freaking hot and humid in Houston.

Fired right up and I've been enjoying the car immensely... except for the keyfob not working any longer. Key starts the car and manually locks/unlocks the door, but the buttons on this key do not operate the locking system or the trunk release.

I have changed the battery in the keyfob, started the car, locked it manually, unlocked it manually, and done everything I've done in the past to get the keyfob working again without success.

Any idea what might be happening with my keyfob? BTW, my other keyfob works just fine, so it's a fob problem, not a car problem...

Same issue. Ended up getting a new fob from the dealer and programmed for abt 275. Works like a champ now.

You might try spraying the electronics in the key with electrical contact cleaner...not much hope of a cure, but who knows. Suggesting it b/c the key sat idle for so long. If that doesn't work, then a new key head is probably in order. I think sunset sells them. Some indies can program the keys if they have the right scanner. Two numbers are needed - one comes with the key, you can get the other from the dealer. Takes 15 minutes to program.
