I just checked an eBay listing for these vents. It seems they are fiberglass. I work mostly with hot molded plastics and catalyst urethanes so I can’t be of much help regarding making the cutouts. You’ll need a precision tool to make the tight rear V cuts for sure. Variable speed dremel with a good cutting wheel? Not much material there for the lower vane. Maybe leave a mm or so of material on each side of the vane mold?? Good luck if you decide to give it a go! |
I've got a router but I can be scary cutting Fglass. I checked eBay and these things are expensive 😲
I got a deal for sure. Hate ti ruin them |

From the Explo forum ‘after saws-all operation on the fender’:
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...7b24166e9f.jpg Not sure what it’s venting because I’m certain it doesn’t connect with the engine compartment. I’ve seen worse from a cosmetic standpoint.. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

Well I'm done. Looked into cutting out the bottom 2 indents but they have metal mesh inside the fiberglass. I think I'm gonna leave them on awhile and see how I feel about them.
I think I need some side skirts. Any recommendations, pics? http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1541892540.jpg http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1541892578.jpg |

And that thing on the bumper cover... looks like someone thought, "What other kind of **************** can I glue on my car". No. Stay away from that look. Even rear diffusers would look better than that $.99 Store look Have a nice day |

My Porsche winter project this year is to add side skirts. This will be my second and final external update to my SE (the first being the urethane FVD “turbo look” side vents backed with CCG hexagon grill material). At first I really wanted the Caractere skirts, but I only found one pair in Poland and I decided the look would not integrate well with the otherwise stock bodywork anyway. I ended up buying three pair to try. CSR, TechArt and Porsche Aerokit 1. I decided to go with the Porsche Aerokit 1 skirts. They are urethane, fit perfectly and they have an understated look that integrates well with the car (imho). The least expensive I found them new is ~$1,200 for the set so I ended up buying a used set from porscheparts dot com. There’s a big problem regarding the top mounting flange with any used Aerokit 1s which I’ll cover in a separate build thread when I’m done with the install. Here’re pics of my test fittings of the three. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...3106daf98b.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...4db31dc976.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...478327e949.jpg Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

Side Vent update
Here’s a pic of the Caractere skirts with your side vents. They kind of compliment each other. Good luck locating a set of the Caractere skirts however.
