Factory restored 1st Gen Boxster

Came across this R&T article on the Boxster 550SE FB page:

https://www.roadandtrack.com/car-culture/classic-cars/a24219642/porsche-classic-restoration-986-boxster/

BTW, there’s an informal Boxster survey at the end of the article.

Doesn’t seem like it was 22 years ago. Time flys, enjoy life.

Oh... I want to repaint mine to “Liquid Metal”. It will be interesting to see what the pricing is on these. Not 12-15k, that’s for sure.

Yes, it’ll be interesting to see the pricing. I’d like to see some interior shots of the Boxster also.

Here’s the current survey results. It’s surely biased toward those interested in the Boxster but interesting none the less.

Would like to see some reasonably priced black interior plastic pieces that don't turn sticky and new headlight rubber gaskets made available as part of this whole Porsche Classic deal. The Gold 993 Turbo they restored sold for over $3.4 million at a Sotheby's auction. The Liquid Metal color is nice!

Ummmm..... is it a resto-mod? They put clear side marker and corner lights on it, not to mention painted black rims. As for "liquid metal", sure looks a lot like Seal Gray to me - had that on my 03.

In short, I'm not impressed with this so called "factory restoration".

They're going to be displaying them at the Birmingham Nec classic car show on November 10th & 11th.

If they're anything like the restored examples of the 924s 944s and 928s that Porsche displayed there last year, then theyll be absolutely stunning.

I have tickets for the 10th so can't wait!

Wish I could fly over for the show but we’re busy the first two weeks of Nov. I’m betting the liquid metal paint will look fantastic in person. Be sure to take (and post!) lots of pics.

Agreed on the Liquid Metal color, it looks super in the pics.

Fortunately the only sticky parts I had were the radio knobs and the interior door lever surrounds. Already addressed both of those. My unicorn is the Cocoa convertible top. Still in great shape now, but the day will come.

I would love to see one of those factory refurbed cars. Is’nt Porsche beinging one of those refurb shops to the US, at the Atlanta center? Or it a different level of restoration?
