Last night my CEL came on and I read this code.
It does not look good, from what little info I could find on this code. It's an 02 base with 160 K miles. Am I at the end of the road? Like an idiot, I cleared the code and should have left it for my idie to see. Is it ok to drive it short distances to see if it comes back on? It seems to run fine, but I know that doesn't mean much... It's beyond my expertise to repair, but not to help diagnose the problem. This is where the experience and expertise on here is invaluable. Thanks in advance for your help. |
need more data - actual cam deviation values if possible. possibly actuator failure. pull oil filter and check for debris and post back. rubbery green is actuators, hard dark brown is cam pads. all repairable and non-catastrophic, but expensive to fix.

Will have to get those values from indie.
how expensive? 3k? |
if actuator, part is $1.5k ish, then install (can happen with engine in car). lots of 'while you are in there' stuff. search this forum (keywork 'actuator' should do it) for more info. also don't forget that might just be a bad sensor or wiring to sensor as well ...

...well at least it doesn't look catastrophic then.....
Will keep researching the subject. Thanks! |
