Exactly. Even if you don't have a hard top, it is a great idea to apply it to your rubber seals/gaskets on the doors, trunks, and convertible top header. I also put some on my clamshell although that isn't really a rubber gasket. The Boxster chassis was designed as a convertible and is pretty stiff, but it still flexes and those seals are quieter with some gummi phledge on them.

As others have said the three top latches are adjustable and hold tightly.http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1540750606.jpg

Hi,
A late response I know, but I recently bought a hard top and had no idea about the caps you mention. Can you post a photograph?
My roof does fit well, but I did adjust the three H5 bolts on either side by the locking handles. That gives vertical and lateral movement so it seats better.

Paul

Buy one if you don’t have one it’s great to have the option. The only down side is sometimes the windows don’t align quite right and you have increased wind noise but this is an easy fix. As other have said it’s a very quick swap to put on or take off. I’ve had my boxster since June and kind of like the hard top look and drive noise. I picked my boxster up in LA and bought a hardtop for the 1300 mile drive home and am thankful for it.

Hi,
It might help it fit better if you loosen the three H5 bolts above the locking lever behind the plastic cover. They allow for lateral and vertical movement. Mine fitted snugly after I did that before locking the levers.

Id call them blades or guide blades rather than pins.

If you performed a couple wraps around those blades with black electrical tape you would have something that looks much like the plastic caps.

In any event ...
